If you are considering moving to the Lake Anna area, there are many points of interest within one or two driving hours from the mid-lake area.

Forty-five minutes to the north-east is the historic town of Fredericksburg. Besides the attractions "in town", just west of route 95 on route 3, are two large shopping areas and numerous other businesses. An hour to the south-east is the state's capital, Richmond. Some of the many interesting places to visit in this city are:

•   Louis Ginter's Botanical Gardens
• Science Museum
• Aviation Museum
•   Richmond Braves, AAA International League Baseball
• State Fairgrounds/Richmond International Raceway
• Cary Street shopping
• Canal Walk and Boat Rides .

If willing to drive east past Richmond, another one or two hours on route 64, is Williamsburg, Busch Gardens and Virginia Beach. Ten miles north of Richmond, on route 95, is King's Dominion.

One hour to the south-west lies Charlottesville. This town offers an abundance of shopping facilities. The majority of these lie along Route 29, just north of the city. In town, two excellent shopping areas are Barracks Road and a walking only section of stores on Market Street. Also, in town, is the University of Virginia, established by Thomas Jefferson along with it's excellent medical facility. Additional information on this area can be seen at the area guide   website. Also, nearby are the homes of three of our early presidents. Thomas Jefferson's home at Monticello , James Monroe's home at Ashlawn   and James Madison's home at Montpelier , approximately 25 miles north of Charlottesville.

Approximately, 1/2 hour past Charlottesville, route 64 crosses the Blue Ridge mountain range.

Lastly, to the north-west, the town of Culpeper is approximately 1/2 hour driving distance. Culpeper is a quaint town offering a historical museum, shopping and "just browsing" walks around town. One hour north-west of Culpeper is the town of Sperryville, offering many antique and other shops. Passing Sperryville, takes you into the Blue Ridge mountains and park area. At the top of the mountain range, "Skyline Drive" runs north to Front Royal and south, 30 miles west of Charlottesville, to Roanoke and beyond. Crossing over the mountains takes you by Luray Caverns , and the town of Luray's Reptile and Petting Zoo.
